Referral Guidelines

PRA have Day Centres and Industrial units in various London Boroughs.

Our Southwood Smith Centre holds a weekend drop-in group every Sunday from 12pm-5pm. A meal is served from 1pm at a nominal charge.

Hackney

Who can make a referral?

We accept referrals from

GPs
Hospitals
Voluntary Agencies
Mental Health Teams
Housing departments
Self Referrals

NB there is a daily charge if anyone is referred to a centre situated in a different borough than the residency of the client, payable by the referring authority.

Additional information

Before we can process the client's application please ensure that all sections of the referral form are completed correctly.

It is important that we receive a medical or social workers' report and a recent CPA review where necessary. Failure to include these on request or with the referral form will cause delay to the application.

What happens next?

When we receive the referral the details will be discussed with the Day Centre manager and if the client fulfils the eligibility criteria we will write to the client to arrange an informal visit, with a copy of the letter sent to the referral body.

If the client is suitable s/he will be offered a month's trial period at the centre after which they will acquire full membership.
